Research - Active Travel

HITRANS have worked with Ramboll to create the Living Well Locally tool. Adapting the nationally recognised definition of ’20 minute neighbourhoods’ to the HITRANS context this tool shows how close places are across the HITRANS area to being 20 minute neighbourhoods. The tool has been adapted for a rural context, giving both 3km and 800m distances along with a basic needs category. The tool is public access and can be used by policy makers and communities to help with an understand of place.  

A tool manual and methodology booklet has been made to accompany the Living well locally study. This booklet explains the reasons for the tool, the methodology and data used to develop it and a summary of the findings. It also sets out recommendations for applications of the tool and how it could be adapted in the future.
