Highland Councillor Thomas Prag has been appointed Vice Chair of HITRANS, the Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership.

Cllr Prag, from Inverness, succeeds Cllr Fiona Murdoch who had been in the role since June 2012.

He was appointed at a meeting of the partnership’s Board in Elgin today (Friday).

As Vice Chair, Cllr Prag will work closely with his fellopw Board Memvbers and HITRANS Chair to support the delivery of HITRANS’ transport strategy and work with stakeholders to promote the case for key transport investment in the Highlands and Islands.

He said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to this role.

“The priority of the HITRANS board is to make the case for improvements to our transport services and networks which are so important to the way of life of everyone in the Highlands and Islands. I look forward to working with my fellow Members of HITRANS and our key stakeholders including the Scottish Government, HIE and local authority partners to achieve our goals.”
