Local vouchers for green choices this Christmas
Making green and healthy travel choices isn’t always easy, but in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland the effort has become even more worthwhile.
Local residents can now earn rewards for their active and sustainable travel with the new free-to-join BetterPoints Go-Hi challenge https://gohi.betterpoints.uk/. Every day, participants earn points in the BetterPoints app for walking or cycling as well as for their public transport journeys. There are also points for car share and using the ferry. These points can be exchanged in the app for High-Street and supermarket vouchers, or discounts on Nike products.
In the run up to Christmas, participants will also earn in-app tickets into a weekly draw for £10 and £20 Scotland Loves Local gift cards which support local businesses. It is also a great way for people to support their favourite charity at an expensive time of year, as points can be donated from within the app.
The scheme, supported by HITRANS, the regional transport partnership for the Highlands and Islands, encourages people to try healthier and sustainable journeys throughout the area by awarding points for every car-free travel trip recorded on the free BetterPoints app.
As an extra incentive to sign up now, there is also the chance for one lucky local to win a Brompton bike for a year, valued at £420, through the Brompton Bike Hire scheme https://bromptonsubscription.com/product/annual-subscription/.
HITRANS aims to make green and healthy travel easy and attractive – first with the Go-Hi app https://gohi.app/ which is a one-stop shop for planning and booking sustainable travel, and now with the BetterPoints Go-Hi challenge which rewards participants when they make these sustainable journeys.
Whether you are watching your petrol gauge, looking for ways to stay motivated to keep moving during the winter months, keen to play your part in reducing environmental impact and improving air quality, the BetterPoints Go-Hi challenge is here to help.
