Public Urged to Engage in Fort William Transport Study
Residents, businesses, students and key stakeholders in the Fort William area are being urged to engage online to inform a study being carried out to identify the scope for transport improvements in the area.
Engineering, consultancy and research company, AECOM, are working in partnership with The Highland Council, HITRANS, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Transport Scotland, to identify local and strategic transport issues in and around Fort William.
AECOM are seeking the views of anyone who lives, works, studies or does business in and around Fort William via an online engagement tool, www.placecheck.info/maps/fortwilliam.
This Placecheck tool gives the public the chance to tell AECOM what they like about the area, what they don’t like and what they would like to see improved. Registration is quick and easy, and users can then add comment to the map. The tool will be open until Wednesday 14 March.
Councillor Allan Henderson, Chairman of HITRANS, the regional transport partnership and Chair of The Highland Council’s Environment Development and Infrastructure committee, said: “Using the latest online engagement tool, the local community have a great chance to shape the way this hugely important project for the Fort William area goes forward. We want to hear from as many transport users as possible. Engaging with users of the transport network is an important element of Transport Scotland’s Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance methodology under which this study is being taken.”
After this initial stage of engagement the input from all stakeholders will be collated and used in moving forward with the study. The deadline for the Placecheck inputs is Wednesday 14th March. The aim is to complete the study by early summer.
