11/15/2023 - SATE wins inaugural Aerospace Technology and Innovation Award
The Sustainable Aviation Test Environment, SATE, picked up the Team award at this week’s Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) Conference which took place in Birmingham.
The award celebrates the teams who are making the journey to net zero together and recognises they are high performing, have strong relationships, navigate the ecosystem well and are delivery focused.
The ATI creates the technology strategy for the UK aerospace sector and funds world-class research and development and is also funded by UKRI like the Future Flight Challenge, of which SATE is a part.
Professor Andrew Rae, University of Highlands and Islands, a SATE partner, submitted the award entry and said: “The team was assembled to demonstrate the next generation of air services, thereby ensuring airports operations are ready to support sustainable aviation requirements. In doing so, it will improve regional connectivity to support remote and rural communities, improve business resilience, and support the UK Government’s aviation decarbonisation strategy, plus the Scottish Government's ambition for a Highlands and Islands Net Zero Aviation region by 2040.
“The project is accelerating technology developers' ability to get to market and brings together key stakeholders to deliver an integrated net-zero aviation system at a regional level.”
SATE manager, Jayne Golding added: “It’s wonderful that the team scooped this prestigious award which recognises the skills and expertise required to deliver on a complex project.
“The team has worked extremely hard, and this award shows our collaborative and inclusive approach is working. Well done to long standing team members past and present, Lynda Johnston, David Holden and Lukas Princ and the wider team.”
