Description:
50/50 partnership with The Highland Council to deliver the Smart Cities programme for Inverness. The aim is to update the regions transport infrastructure to make travel easier by implementing:

A flexible wireless mesh infrastructure allowing for smart traffic management, live traffic and public transport information

An improvement to bus stop signage, introducing smart elements, including NFC/QR codes and real-time information boards at selected stops

Improvements to the Far North Line

An update of parking meters, introducing smart elements to increase ease-of-use and flexibility for users

HITRANS activities:
- Supply & Install of Smart Bus Stop Units: Successful installation of approx. 250 smart bus stop units with QR codes

RTPI Procurement: Improvement of real time passenger travel information in the HITRANS area

Fair Exchange: project to create additional capacity, improved resilience & better maintenance access on the Kyle railway line between Strathcarron & Kyle, with the project funding a new Token Exchange Point near Stromferry
